First Pick of the 2010 Fantasy football Draft, No Thank You

Traditionally Running Backs have always been the foundation of championship fantasy football teams, You wanted nothing more then to garner that first pick in hopes of landing that one player that will single handedly win your championship, Unfortunately for me the top picks came a year late, In 99 it was Terrell Davis, 1500 yards and double digit touch-downs in the teens was a virtual lock, (buzzer overtone) I’m sorry, better luck next time. 02 Marshall Faulk, seriously! From 98 to 01 you averaged over 2000 all-purpose yards and touch-down numbers in the teens and then some, why not want the first pick in 02,
Of course I’ve seen this happen to other owners as well; there was Priest Holmes and Shaun Alexander. It was becoming evident to me that the first pick was more a burden then a luxury as I would achieve a greater success drafting later in the first round 1:11/1:12, being able to come back with the 2:01/ 2:02 has proven to be the luxury. Once again for 2010, I will look to employ that Top QB and WR theory, as trends change so must your fantasy football draft philosophies? With more team employing multiple backs and placing a more of an emphasis on the passing game the Quarter-backs and Wide-receivers are becoming more of an asset.

Chris Johnson - #1 RB pick?

Is he the top pick? Are you sure?

It is hard to argue Chris Johnson’s number one

rank and no arguing first overall pick just as long as it is not late August and he’s a ‘No-Show’ for Training Camp. Huge Red Flag.
Four items that merit credence when formulating my fantasy football draft strategy for running backs. As history has shown a players chance of being much less productive and or injured If any of these items can be placed on him.
1. Stay clear of age, is he over 30.
2. Hold Out of training camp into late August
3. Returning from a knee injury/surgery.
4. The infamous ‘Madden Curse’. (Open to discussion)

got to agree with you on this one in that I am focusing allot on the stud QB approach. WR still a bit shaky (see AJ early part of last year). Good thoughts though.

Hey guys! I need help with my fantasy league. I’m in a 10 team 2 player keeper league. We have double bonus scoring for distance over 40yrds for tds, plus 3 for 100 and 2 more for 150 or more yrds, and 4 pts for qb tds, with 3 pts bonus for over 250 and an extra 2 for 300 yrds, we start 3 wrs, 2 rbs, 1 qb, 1 def, 1 k. I have Brady, Miles Austin, Jamaal Charles and Shonne Greene. I’m not sure who to keep. I have the 8th pick and it snakes, so I have 8 and 13. I think I can still get charles at pick 8. Our keepers are manning, brees, rodgers, chris johnson, AP, Rice, D. Williams, Gore, MJD, S. Jackson, Grant, Mendenhall, Moss, Fitzgerald, A. Johnson, Desean Jackson and two that have not been decided by a new guy who can pick any two that are left for his keepers. I think Shonne Green and Austin are good, but then I was thinking I could probably go two wr’s at 8 and 13 so all three are pretty good and I can then load up on rb’s the next 3 or 4 pics with a qb thrown in there. Any other ideas?
